Carl Zeiss Boom Stand. This is a wonderful magnifying microscope….. You can’t get much better than Carl Zeiss Optics. The german lens maker Carl Zeiss began making microscopes in 1847. From the logo that is stamped on both the microscope and the stand… This is a “post war” piece… Manufactured somewhere between 1945 and 1970 when they changed their logo. I would estimate from the construction that it was made in the mid 1950′s. The logo is the Carl Zeiss logo from the factory in Oberkochen, West Germany. Lenses are clean, clear and undamaged. Each eye piece is stamped Carl Zeiss 10x magnification. The microscope itself uses a “rotating drum” for internal magnification. Magnification dial has 6 magnification settings…. 4.0, 2.5, 1.6, 0.6, 1, 1.6. 1.6 is on the dial twice…. That’s not an error. Total magnification is determined by multiplying the eyepiece magnification by the internal magnification so… 6x to 40x magnification with its current set up. Ideal for Gemological, Dissecting, Jewelry, Close-Up Detail work, etc. There is no model number anywhere on this microscope that I could find… With boom stand weighs 38 lbs. Boom stand base is approx 7″ in diameter, center support is approx 16″ in height (from surface), cross bar is 14. Multiple adjustments on the boom so you can position the microscope just about any way you want. The pictures do a much better job at describing this items than I ever could…. Please check them out!
