Vintage Medical Equipment Maris Intermittent Venous Occlusion Apparatus #147

Thank you for viewing! Maris Intermittent Venous Occlusion Apparatus. Antique medical equipment/ instrument quackery?? Label says Patents pending. This is an antique piece of medical equipment enclosed in a wooden case. My guess is that it dates back to the 1930s or 40s, but thats just a guess. This is very heavy. Case measures 15 wide by 11 ¾ tall (not including handle) by 10 front to back. The front wooden panel on the case lifts and slides open to expose the front instrument panel. , BUT Ive found that in order to do this the back panel must be removed. The back panel has what looks to be a keyhole at the bottom, but no key is present. To open and remove the back panel, Ive found it very easy to slip a small screwdriver into the. Keyhole and sort of lift and pull the back panel out of place. The recalibration and servicing instructions are taped inside the back panel. In addition to the bottom front panel that raises and slides back into place. There is also a smaller front panel that raises open on hinges. Once this panel is raised. It reveals a compartment where the cuff, cord etc. I removed the items in this compartment just long enough to photograph them. I handled these items as little as possibleI did not unwrap, unwind or inspect them. Because these are so old, Im sure the materials from which they are made. Are in very delicate condition. This piece of equipment has been stored for many decades in a barn. When I discovered it, it was covered in dust. Using just a soft cloth, I wiped the dust off the case. I also used a soft brush to try to wipe some of the dust from the back interior. I did minimal cleaning so as to not cause any damage. A deeper cleaning and restoration could really enhance its appearance. The wooden case does have damage, such as scuffs and scratches. One of the back bottom corners is chipped off. Where the front panel raises and pushes back. A small piece of the veneer is loose and could possibly pop off at any time. I made no attempt whatsoever to see if this machine is operational. So I have no idea if its in working order. I have no idea if any parts or pieces are missing. This was a challenging item to photograph; a flash made everything look brighter than it. Actually is, but without a flash, everything looked duller. Therefore, Ive included a variety of photos, some with flash and some without. As many photos as possible are included, so please look closely. The item “Vintage Medical Equipment Maris Intermittent Venous Occlusion Apparatus #147″ is in sale since Friday, October 9, 2020.
