This interesting and fine monaural stethoscope which is made of a fruitwood dates from the 19th century and has a wonderful patina. The monaural (for one ear) stethoscope was invented in 1816 for doctors to listen to patients hearts and chests. Nowadays they use two ear piece stethoscopes but monaural stethoscopes are still used to listen to the heartbeat of unborn babies. A nice early medical antique that would make a very nice addition to a medical equipment collection and would be an ideal museum piece. Dimensions: Diameter: 5 cm (2). Height: 14.5 cm (5 3/4). Vintage Electrocardiograph Cambridge Instrument in Wood Case Medical Equipment. This vintage ECG machine is in fair condition. It comes with a power cord and the cord for plugging in different leads (no leads included). This would be a cool display piece. It is missing one of the feet and one of the hinges looks like it was replaced at some point. There are scratches throughout. I tested it very minimally by plugging it in and turning some of the knobs. It made some marks on the paper but I couldn’t figure out how to get the paper to feed automatically. I did not connect the lead splitter cable when testing. Please understand that we are not medical professionals and have not tested this vintage device for safety or effectiveness. Recently in process of cleaning out my antique &art gallery. After 30 some years must close. I had bought it out of doctors collection. This even has the original paper directions. Not sure of exact age but very old. What is great is that it is in good shape with items inside and nice metal closure. Approx 2” high with a length of 13” and a width of 4”.
