Here’s a very scarce early Bennington “Croup Kettle” or medical inhalator pot from the 1850 era with its original cork stopper with 2 glass inhaler tubes! You can see a similar croup kettle pictured on page 113, plate 159 in Richard Barret’s book on “Bennington Pottery & Porcelain”. The kettle is round with large footed base ring that has a vent tube protruding….. 6 1/4″tall (6 3/4″with cork stopper) x 4 3/4across base….. Yellowware body with mottled brown Rockingham slip glaze….. Rare original cork stopper with 2 clear glass tubes…. It has some heat stress cracking on the bottom surface only; no other damage. This croup kettle was used as a medical vaporizer or inhaler when someone had the croup or sickness. THIS IS A FIXED PRICE ITEM FOR SALE IN MY STORE.
