It still heats up and the valve for the water tank works ok. Light comes on in the panel when its heating. It does need a chromed pin or bolt put in where the foot pedal mechanism hooks to the lid up top—you can see I have a big center punch sticking in it right now for the pictures. Also the damper still works to put the lid down slow. It is 115 volts, 1230 watts. Wiring looks good and someone added a ground wire. It stands 34″ tall to the top of the cabinet–37″ to the top of the hinge, 19″ wide, 15 1/2″ deep with it being 18 to where the foot pedal sticks out. Very cool vintage Hevi Duty Electric Unit Muffle Furnace Type 051-RT. This old lab furnace was most likely made in the late 1940′s or early 1950′s. The manufacturers tag lists volts 230, watts 1150, max temp 1850F, serial number 80347. The power cord had been cut off. We attached our own temporary power cord to test the unit. The first time the unit powered on and only reached a temperature of 200f. We tried a few days later and the unit reached about 550f. Even though it powers on and partially works we can not guarantee that it will continue to work at all. This is a great vintage item for the collector or for the restoring crowd. Very heavy unit weighs almost 70 pounds and measures approximately 20″ tall by 17″ wide by 17 deep. Please use all photographs to determine condition. Laboratory polarizing microscope MIN-8. This is a more advanced device designed to study transparent preparations in transmitted light during orthoscopic and conoscopic rays. The microscope MIN-8 has a rigid tripod with a built-in illuminator, a rotating stage with vernes to count the angle of rotation. Mechanism for focusing the centering of the Bertrand lens. The polarizer, analyzer and stage have limbs for reading the angles of rotation. The microscope kit includes six lenses (planakhromata – 3,5 x 0,1, 9×0,20 and achromates – 20×0,40, 40 x 0,65, 60 x 0,85, 90 x 1,25) and three eyepieces (5 X – with a grid and a scale, 8 x with a crosshair, 15 x). When combined with an OI-12 illuminator, a microscope can be used to study opaque objects in reflected light. The use of a polarizing microscope broadens the possibilities of studying medicinal plants and allows increasing the amount of information obtained. Double refraction has crystals of calcium oxalate. Which greatly facilitates their detection in preparations, especially in powder. Optically anisotropic starch grains, in which polar light is visible in polarized light, since the starch molecules in the grain are located radially. The cell membrane is also optically anisotropic, which is due to a certain orientation of the molecular chains of cellulose. Especially the large value of birefringence is possessed by the cellular membranes of considerable thickness (mechanical elements that conduct the xylem elements). When examining preparations in a polarizing microscope with a crossed polarizer and analyzer, the anisotropic elements are clearly visible on the dark background of the field of view. In the absence of a polarizing microscope, one can use a conventional biological microscope, using polaroids (polarization filters). One of them (a polarizer) is placed on the ring under the condenser, the other (analyzer) is placed on the eyepiece. Rotation of the eyepiece with a polarizing filter superimposed on it achieve “damping” of light in the field of view. In a darkened field, brightly lit details with birefringence. You are looking at a old antique medical cabinet. This item measures 66 3/4″ tall x 20 1/4″ wx 15 d. This cabinets drawers and doors all work, however the caster wheels are set up and one is damaged.
