1960s Vintage GI Joe Action Marine Medical. Stored in a Smoke – Mildew Free Home. This Joe set saw some serious action, giving first aid to many casualties! Starting in 1968, I got my first GI Joe, ordered with box tops from Post Raisin Bran cereal. He was a Marine in Dress Blues. Through 1975 I received as gifts and bought more than one dozen GI Joes’. Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Talking, Adventure Team, Kung Fu Grip, accessory sets, helicopter, motor cycle, ATV etc. One Christmas my brother made me a Jeep out of wood, my Dad made me some wooden M-1 Garand rifles and a bunk bed set and my Mom made me a dress suit which fit Joe perfectly as well has mattresses, blankets and pillows! Some people say that if they come back after they die, they want to come back as one of my wifes’ dogs or now, a Grandchild; me, I want to come back as one of my families GI Joes’, they have it good! It all worked well with my Joes’. When I turned 13, I packed it all up in protective storage GI Joe was for ages 5-12 after all – boy that stunk!! For a few years as an adult, I had some of my GI Joes’ complete with gear, on display. Eventually I put them back into storage. My kids never played with my Joes’, they had some modern ones of their own. However, as the kids got older and the house got smaller, I realized I had to downsize. Well it’s time to divest of the rest of my 60′s and 70′s toys (I saved most everything). This is my original 1960s Action Marine Medical set, complete with crutch, IV, stethoscope, splints and bandages. This set saw some use, but not a whole lot. Usually the medic treated minor casualty injuries not requiring this extensive gear because America’s Fighting Man was pretty good at dodging enemy fire!
