IT RUNS–I RAN IT FOR A VERY SHORT TIME AND IT WAS FINE–THAT BEING SAID YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES(# 10,13) THAT THE CORD HAS BEEN REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE BELT HAS SOME ISSUES(cracked and somewhat brittle). Nice looking Antique Stethoscope with a great colour and patina. Dating from around the 1860 period and made of a Fruitwood, probably Pear Wood looking. In the middle of the shaft you can see a slightly darker area, this is where its been held and used. So many times over the years. A nice little sign of its true age. This type of one ear stethoscope was invented in 1816 for doctors to listen to patients hearts. In fantastic condition with no splits in the wood or scratches and dents. Measures 25.5cm long x 6cm wide. A great addition to any collection.
