MULHEARN MEDIC RED HAT WITH WHITE CROSS ON TOP BY FIBRE METAL. I picked up an vintage Oliver sun hat that was from the early 1950′s era and this was with that at from a local estate which is why I’m thinking its from the same time period. The outside is painted red with white X on the top that is also painted. Speaking of the X – it looks like it was once a larger sized X but was painted smaller as I can see the outside from the previous X (see pics of what I’m talking about). I also noticed 1 rivit missing as well in the back. Inside the hat on the visor, its marked Fibre Metal. From what I can gather… Fibre Metal made of a lot of miners hard hats. My goal is your satisfaction. The only exception is with the country of Italy. And in great condition. Body itself measures approx 36 inches tall and comes on a swivel base. Many many removable parts and details. Pretty sure all the parts are there except possible on the lower middle back a hollowed section of the spine which it may supposed to be like this because I don’t see how it would clip in and perhaps a breast on the outside to show a womans breast or mammary glands! ?? Great for medical collectors, doctor’s offices, schools, colleges, medical schools, Halloween or just to freak your friends out. This is a cast iron bottle that has over 5 pounds of liquid Mercury that needs to be filtered out. The bottle has a date of 1957 and is made in Canada. You can see in the photos the black stuff on top of the plastic cup, but when I pour it in to the cast iron bottle you can see how clear it is. An exceptional relic in every possible way, this mechanical prototype was to adorn chiropractic and orthopedic doctors’ offices throughout the land. A press of the lever, and the figure slouches, demonstrating to the patient the height loss effects of injuries to the spine and other back problems. Alas, national distribution never came to pass. The piece was given to my grandfather (a mailman in Hollywood during the 1950′s) by its inventor (who lived somewhere along his route) in the hopes that his daughter (my mother) would enjoy playing with it. Which she did –gently. Stashed away, forgotten in a box for decades, the Payne Mechanical Posture Manikin Model D-2 has been passed along to me –and it needs to go to the right home. A museum, a physician’s office, an aficionado of obscure medical pieces. Measures almost 24 inches in height by 5.75 inches in width by approximately 3 inches in depth.
