The Barbados General hospital opened on 1 July 1844 and was built by public subscription and a modest contribution from the government to treat sick poor people. It was replaced by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital which was officially in 1964. The dishes are marked with the Barbados General Hospital crest with the inscription. Made by Alfred Meakin England.
