HYFRECATOR – BIRTCHER CO. Los Angeles – this is probably from the 1940′s. Bakelite Case – cord with foot switch. Very good condition – no cracks or chips in bakelite case. Size 8.5″ x 5″ wide. A Hyfrecator is a low-powered medical apparatus used in electrosurgery on conscious patients, usually in an office setting. It is used to destroy tissue directly, and to stop bleeding during minor surgery. It was introduced as a brand name for a device introduced in 1940 by the Birtcher Corporation of Los Angeles. Birtcher 400 Series Heart Monitor 1960s Vintage Medical Device Equipment

PLEASE NOTE There are no leads or connectors which would go from the patient to the device. Birtcher 400 Series heart monitoring system. Was used in the local hospital until being decommissioned. Believed to date from the 1960s. All units power up but untested beyond that due to lack of a willing subject. Included are the following. Model 400 Power Supply. Power Cords / Connectors. In good cosmetic condition with some rust spots. Some of the lettering has rubbed off on one of the units. Please see all photos as they are part of the description. But that can be arranged. Otherwise local pick-up or meet-up is also fine. A very interesting piece of medical scientific history.
