Developed in the late 1950s by Mary D. Sheridan and distributed by the NFER Publishing Company, the STYCAR tests were designed for testing paediatric hearing and visual acuity. Nowadays, the acronym has an unfortunate politically incorrect translation, standing for Standard Tests for Young Children And Retards. On offer here is a near-complete set of original manuals, record sheets, growth & development charts, vision charts, flash cards, toys and apparatus for the Graded Balls sub-test. Together with the manuals and the supplemental equipment, the kit could prove useful as research material, display material in a museum setting or as a niche collector’s item.
