Description: Beck Spectrascope w/ Wooden Case, Vintage. This instrument is used to measure properties of light over a specific portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, typically used in spectroscopic analysis to identify materials. This is an extremely rare piece from what I have seen. This piece is complete and has Cambridge information in pen on inside the booklet so it seems this piece came from the collage. I have seen similar ones go for thousands and up. I will not go in to much much detail. These can be used for as variety of things. The Hartridge Reversion scopes work by displaying two spectra in the ocular. The two spectra are arrayed in opposite directions one a mirror image of the other. You decide which line or band you want to know about and you turn the micrometer till the same band on both spectra are lined up adjacent to one another. Then you look at the micrometer and read the wavelength to 0.2nm. They are dead on accurate. WILL NOT LAST LONG. Dimensions: Approximately 13″ x 11″. Condition: Good Used shape. Untested due to lack of knowledge on the device but everything looks nice and straight.
