HARTNACK POTSDAM HIGH GRADE MICROSCOPE WITH WOODEN BOX circa 1870. Hartnack as an innovator (Bradbury, 1967) whose instruments are highly regarded by microscope historians (Moe, 2004). Edmund Hartnack was born on April 9, 1826, and died on February 9, 1891. From about 1835, Oberhäuser worked alone, achieving a reputation for quality. In 1857 he went into partnership with his nephew Edmund Hartnack (Oberhäuser & Hartnack, Place Dauphine 21, Paris).
