MCI Biophone 3502 Orange EKG Vintage Medical Equipment. This is an EXTREMELY rare MCI Biophone 3502. A unit like this one was used in the theme opening of the show Emergency! . The actual one from the show is now located at the Smithsonians National Museum of American History because of its public service. The biophone was a combination of voice and telemetry radio communications systems used in the 1970s and 80s by paramedics to talk to physicians supervising them from a hospital base station. The key difference between this unit and another two-way radio was that it had the ability to transmit a patients electrocardiogram. I can almost guarantee this would NOT work for any medical use at this point, but I had a friend who used another battery to get the lights to turn on, hence why the battery is unattached. It has been over 5 years since tinkering with it though so I have no advice about how to do such a thing at this point. Anyways, its a very hard to find collectors item. It could be cleaned up and displayed to show off its beautiful orange look and remind us of our medical history.
