BRASS XY Microscope Mechanical Stage/Slide Holder. This very precise instrument is in excellent condition. Looks unused or very lightly used. Has a very light patina on the scales. Box has some wear but is in good condition for it’s age. Although a little tardy with dust and dried carriage lubricant this microscope is in fantastic condition. I can’t give you an accurate estimate of the last time it was used but it’s been a while. It would need a clean and probably a re grease of the little wheels that move parts about but the mechanics of it are in excellent condition with only the movement of the wheel to change the lens choice magnification from 2.5x to 10x being very stiff. The 2.5x lens moves fine but the 10x lens requires persuasion. Also I’m sure there should be an end weight on the boom to balance the microscope when the optics are extended to their maximum position but we have had a good look for it and have been unable to find it. Optically it’s fine but I would guess that the eyepieces would require a clean. Apart from that it’s a excellent piece of vintage microscopy. All metal Leitz Laborlux manufactured in the mid-1960′s. A truly precision instrument like only German engineering and optics can produce. It has 10X periplanar eyepieces. Objectives: 3.5x/0.10, 10x/0.25, 45X/0.65 and 100X/1.3 (oil emersion). I believe the binocular head adds 1.25X magnification but I don’t have definite proof. The fine/coarse adjustment knobs are working normally. The mechanical stage also has adjustment mechanisms working well. The plug for the light source is not conventional but I suspect it needs a transformer. I have a transformer which I can list separately. For sale is a vintage, or possibly antique, Optikon Wetzlar 4359 Microscope. This piece comes with the original wooden dovetailed locking carrying case, which has 2 pull out lab tube drawers inside. The key works great easily locking and unlocking. Also you can have the working vintage light too (pictured in first two pictures). I highly doubt this originally came with the microscope, but it was inside of the case when I opened it, and I have no need for it… This microscope itself appears to either be rare or scarce, as there is really no information I could find regarding this model. Nor could I really find anything similar to this piece when researching Optikon online. Maybe it is made after 1990?? It doesn’t look like it, and the home this piece came from was full of antiques and older pieces. In fact, the original owners I bought this piece from were once both doctors (now retired), and their parents were doctors too…. She was a pathologist and he was a pediatrician. (they had a story about everything I bought, in which they personally used or did something with). This microscope comes with 4 attached lenses/objectives. They read Kohler Wetzler Germany on them, and the numbers/letters on the sides are as follows. OEL 100/1.30. 45:1 Ap. 10:1 Ap. 5:1 Ap. The microscope is adjustable both leaning back, and the eyepiece raises up and down. The eyepiece is marked Weitfeld 10X. From my point of view this piece looks to be in very nice vintage condition. I do not see why it would not work just how it should. Maybe a little adjusting here and there? A little bit of minor cleaning might possibly be needed, or a little bit of very minor wear found in a place or two. If you are looking to display this piece, the.
