Vintage WAXED Open Gear Orthopedic Equipment Bone Drill 1965 Field Surgery Kit. Vintage Orthopedic Open Gear Surgical Bone Drill 1965. MESTEKOVA (stamped on box) – Made by: CHIRANA NIKL 65 (Stamped on Gear). Coated with a heavy wax. This drill is identical to another drill I have listed. Except that the other one has the wax (completely removed). Which was quite fun doing the removal of the wax. I suppose it is a means of keeping items sterile until used. The wax would have to be boiled off of the instruments prior to use. I would assume that the condition is used. Thank you for looking.
