RARE VINTAGE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT Brain Wave Synchronizer Photic Stimulator, MD-5. Overall in excellent condition, the bulb flashes when turned on. Thanks for purchasing my item… And for helping a Vet! Reflects on the history of the Brain Wave Synchronizer: After observing how some radar technicians had become transfixed by rhythmic flashing dots on their radar screens, inventor Sidney Schneider designed his Brain Wave Synchronizer (BWS) to hypnotize by visually stimulating subjects at frequencies mimicking those of their alpha, beta, or delta brainwaves. In 1959 Schneider and hypnotist-obstetrician William Kroger, M. Kroger & Schneider, 1959. Four years later, Chicago anesthesiologist Max S. Published his work on how BWS-induced hypnosis could reduce anesthetic agent requirements during general anesthesia. By 1994 the BWS would be cited for causing epileptic seizures in a patient. I’m not sure what the original purpose of this very cool 1920s-1930s era scientific equipment. It is most often used when heating solutions, particularly for distillation. The body of the piece is heavy steel and the piece has several adjustment knobs to swivel the lamp & bottle assembly raise it higher and lower and or at an angle. I could find no makers marks on any of the metal assembly. Measurements 7.3/4″ high x 10.1/4″ x 6.5. Weight 5 pounds 12.5 oz. Rare Vintage Glasbake Penicillin Culture Glass Bottle Medical Lab Equipment

Rare vintage Glasbake penicillin culture clear thick glass bottle. The bottle is identified by the embossed lettering in the glass that reads GLASBAKE PENICILLIN CULTURE BOTTLE. The wide mouth allowed the culture to be easily inserted and removed from the fermentation bottle and the bottle was placed horizontally on its flat side (see Photo 5) to allow the penicillin to grow in the laboratory and this maximized the yield of the penicillin. The bottle measures approximately 10.25 inches in length, 4.75 inches in maximum width, and 2.25 inches in maximum thickness. The opening in the bottle (see Photos 7 and 8) measures approximately 3.5 inches in length by 0.75 inches in height. The weight of the bottle is 1.82 pounds. Please see all 10 photographs as they are part of the description. The bottle is in very good condition with some scratches. I did not observe any cracks or chips. The bottle does contain manufacturing flaws typical of these bottles consisting of bubbles in the glass and an irregular shaped seam in the glass. The manufacturing flaws do not detract from the value of the bottle and confirm that the Glasbake bottle is vintage in age.
